Job  Purpose: 
 
This  position  is  responsible  for  the  Industrial  Consumer  Electronics  (CE)  coatings  technical  segment  in  Asia  Pacific.  The  incumbent  will  be  responsible  for  directing  and  coordinating  technical  activities  for  the  CE  segment  across  the  Asia  Pacific  region.  The  bulk  of  such  activities  are  currently  located  in  China. 
 
Key  Accountabilities  will  include:
 
o      Interacting  with  the  R&D  function  internally,  and  externally  at  raw  material  suppliers  to  optimize  our  current  CE  product  platforms.     
o      Responsible  for  developing  technical  capability  in  Asia  so  as  to  establish  a  corporate-wide  Center  of  Excellency  for  CE  in  Asia.   
o      Coordinating  provision  of  technical  resource  to  support  sales  and  TSSR  staff  in  provision  of  short  term  resource  for  product  problem  solving,  trialling  and  complaint  response.
o      Responsible  for  the  provision  of  colour  support  and  translation  of  PPG  styling  for  new  customer  programs
o      Establishing  good  laboratory  and  quality  systems  management  practices  in  the  CE  coatings  laboratories  across  Asia.
o      Working  closely  with  the  CE  Coatings  Sales  and  Marketing  management  in  Asia  to  achieve  the  business  goals,  including  sales  and  profitability  growth  and  meeting/exceeding  customer  expectations. 
o      Leading  and  coordinating  resources  for  new  technologies  development.  This  position  is  required  to  explore  technology  trends  and  contribute  to  development  of  product  strategy  in  line  with  overall  CE  business  strategy.
o      Responsible  for  implementing  processes  to  continually  reduce  product  costs,  manufacturing  cycle  times,  and  improve  the  overall  performance  of  PPG  CE  coatings.  This  is  accomplished  through  training  of  personnel,  good  management  practices,  and  the  use  of  new  technologies.
o      Acting  as  the  customer  representative  identified  in  TS16949  ISO9001.
o      Ensuring  compliance  with  PPG  EH&S  (including  Product  Stewardship)  requirements  in  laboratories  under  management  .
o      Developing  new  product  platforms  to  serve  the  local  as  well  as  global  markets,  support  PPG  production  in  Asia,  and  provide  on-line  support  to  local  customer  bases. 
o      Interacting  extensively  with  global  technical,  sales,  and  marketing  organizations  to  determine  market  and  technology  directions. 
 
Qualifications/Experience: 
 
A  minimum  of  a  BS  degree  in  chemistry.  Minimum  10  years  experience  within  the  Industrial  Coatings  industry,  including  plastics  and  colour  management  experience.  Ideally  the  candidate  has  a  consumer  products  background. 
 
Must  have  worked  in  a  dynamic  high  paced  commercial  environment  where  working  with  the  sales  function  and  having  customer  interaction  has  been  a  key  part  of  their  role.  Not  critical  however  desirable,  that  the  candidate  has  worked  in  a  matrixed  organization  previously.
