Job Description – ECoat Chemist
Axalta Coating Systems is seeking a Ecoat Chemist to join the Axalta Research Development team at their laboratory in Shanghai, China. This role will align, troubleshoot and development Ecoat products for the China Industrial coatings market. The successful candidate will conduct research, alignments and localizations related to the development of new products and processes to support growth initiatives for the China Industrial Ecoat business. In addition, this candidate will be a key member of the Industrial technology team working to develop new system offerings for targeted market segments.
Key Job Responsibilities
? Lead technical teams to support existing product lines and to develop and launch new products and processes for industrial Ecoat applications
? Work with Product Specialists, Research Supervisors, Sales and Technical Service teams to define required product attributes and effectively manage projects to introduce and align new products in a high quality way.
? Drive projects using ‘toolbox’ discipline, so that lean robust product systems can be cost effectively developed for the China Industrial Ecoat market off globally available platforms.
? Drive standard lean work flows and meet deadlines while adhering to core operating principles, including safe work practices in compliance with ISO certified Quality Management systems.
? Manage and eｘecute programs in a gated process to meet overall objectives, both technical and financial, to maximize results
? Effectively collaborate with technical, product group and operations to prioritize work and address future needs
? Provide coaching on technical and application issues to peers, sales resources and customers as required
? Capable of a high level of safety performance
? Execute the development of intellectual property for key innovations
? Function as key contact on teams related to quality, management of change, or others
Qualifications
? MS or PhD degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering with a minimum of 3-5 years of experience
? Experience in managing new product development and product support programs against tight cost targets and in team environments in Industrial Ecoat applications
? Experienced in launching and commercializing new ecoat tanks.
? Knowledge and 3-5 years of experience in OEM or Industrial Ecoat Applications is required. 7-10 years of experience is preferred.
? Experience with Ecoat Resin development is desired.
? Demonstrated ability to work in team environment across functions.
? Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
? Effective written and oral communication skills in Mandarin and English
? Knowledge of designed experimentation, statistical data analysis,
? Good understanding of ISO Certification processes and how to cost effectively use, maintain and continuously improve an ISO certified quality management system in an R&D environment.
